Let?s face it, moms. Some of us are super organized people and others, well, let?s just say that we could use a lot of help in that department.
I did a lot of digging to analyze why some moms have it all together and how we can adapt their strategies to help the moms that fall into the ?not-so-organized? category.
Here are three secrets to staying organized for the busy mommy.
1. Declutter first, then move on
If you live in clutter ? think a cluttered home, a cluttered car, a cluttered desk ? then that clutter is all you see, all that you live in on a daily basis. It?s not healthy ? not for your physical, mental, or emotional states. Clutter breeds anxiety, restlessness, and even irritability. All of which aren?t healthy for your family to be feeling.
How can you expect to become organized if all of your daily dealings are amidst clutter?
Get to cleaning and decluttering, mamas. Once you?ve gotten rid of all the things you don?t need and no longer use, you can now start to see and feel the halting power that clutter has on our lives.
Once you literally open up and get rid of the clutter, you?ll feel so much freer to begin getting things in order.
Finally, when you?re down to the bare bones and the clutter is gone, give what?s left a home. Let everything have a home in your house ? you pots, pans, towels, etc. Once it has a home, keep it there when it?s not in use, and put it back in its home once you?re done using it.
2. Keep a central family calendar
It?doesn?t?matter if you have a large family or a small family, keeping a centralized calendar where everyone in the house knows what?s going on day-to-day will make everyone in the house breathe easier knowing what?s upcoming and what needs to done.
This central calendar can be something as simple as a white board or as intricate as a handmade one where everyone in the home contributed to its building.
Keep daily chores on the calendar as well as daily happenings, birthdays, anniversaries, and doctor?s appointments.
Central calendars don?t have to stop once they are hung in the kitchen, think Internet. Try syncing an online calendar, such as Google Calendar, with the central calendar in your home. This way, if you have a smart phone or tablet, you?ll always know what?s going on by simply looking at your device.
Calendar syncing is a perfect way for you and your partner to keep track of each other and the kids without ever missing a beat.
3. Have a weekly family meeting
Again, regardless of family size, weekly meetings are a chance for you to bring everyone up to speed on what?s upcoming. Also, they help tremendously in getting the entire household on the same page.
Have everyone keep a running list of things that need to be discussed at the weekly family meeting, this way when your family sits down for discussion time, the entire family hashes out the who, what, where, and when of everything forthcoming for that week or month.
You all get to work together at creating a schedule that you all can abide by, thus making for less hassle, surprises, and confusion midweek or mid-month.
?
*?????????? Keeping organized is a great way for families of all styles ? mothers working from home, mothers working out of the home, dad works from home, grandma helps with the kids, etc., ? to come together to work as one united unit on all aspects of regular family life, decisions, and chores.
